A diverse and inclusive work culture

People are now pivotal more than ever before. Organizations also want to do their utmost to respect their employees. For example, HP requires that all employees – both its own and those of suppliers it works with – receive fair treatment, have a free choice of employment and are provided with safe working conditions.

HP wants to create a strong culture of diversity, equality and inclusiveness by 2030, precisely because this can make a company stronger. For instance, diversity stimulates innovation because the latter stems from diverse cultures. Diverse teams can thus create innovative solutions to serve customers even better. The actions HP takes to that end can serve as an example within your organization.

HP taskforce

We created this task force in 2020 to promote racial equality and social justice in a few key areas: people, industry, locally and nationally. For example, internally we want to ensure strategies around the advancement, retention and promotion of non-white talent and hope that this may set an example for our partners and suppliers. We will stand up for this group of people at the local and national level as well.

Virtual town hall meetings

HP organized a series of virtual town hall meetings specifically focused on racial equality for all employees. The purpose of these virtual meetings was to explore new ideas, and encourage understanding and conversations on this matter, while highlighting HP’s commitment to fighting racism and inequality. The live presence of many employees and the fact that the recordings were rewatched as many as 16,600 times worldwide indicates the importance of this issue.

External partnerships

HP is also committed to people outside its own company. For example, an agreement was signed with UN Women to promote education, entrepreneurship and digital learning for women and girls in five countries: the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa. In addition, HP provides support to the Human Rights Campaign’s Business Coalition for the Equality Act on LGBTQ workplace rights as well as the UN Human Rights Office Standards of Conduct for Business.
